What is the main difference between Recreational Flag Football and Competitive Flag Football?
- Recreational Flag Football is non-competitive and focuses on helping kids learn the sport and build skills, with no scores kept and equal playing time for everyone. - Competitive Flag Football is emphasizes performance, so playing time is based on how well players do and isn't guaranteed.
You have to pay $25 for Register My Athlete every new school year ?
Yes, RMA Fees are paid annually.
How much does it cost?
The RMA / admin fee is paid in Register My Athlete and is required to try out. After a student makes a team, the program sports fee starts with a $50 commitment / deposit (jersey order takes about a month; no deposit may mean a rental). The remainder is due by the first game. The elementary program total is $200 per athlete per sport.
When does soccer season start?
Soccer season runs from March to May.
Where should we meet for tryouts?
All students must check in at the front of the elementary building prior to tryouts, unless otherwise specified. Students without a completed physical form on file in RMA will not be permitted to participate unless a parent or guardian signs a daily waiver form. Note that an incomplete RMA will prevent students from joining practices or games.
What does my child need for tryouts?
Complete the NIAA physical and upload it to Register My Athlete, finish RMA (e-sign + RMA / admin fee), then fill out the tryout registration form. Bring water. National Sports ID comes after they make the team.
Can parents spectate their student's tryouts?
No, all tryouts and practices are closed to parents. We apologize for any inconvenience, but safety is our program's top priority. We appreciate your understanding.
What if tryouts don't start right after school and my student is in extra innings?
Please remind your student about tryouts that day, as they are responsible for arriving at the designated check-in area on time. We will also make an announcement over the intercom to help notify everyone.
What if I'm not available to pick up my student after tryouts?
We highly recommend that student-athletes sign up for our after-school program as a precaution. If students are not picked up by the end of tryouts or practice, they will be sent to extra innings.
What is the schedule for practices and games? (My child also plays in an outside league.)
Practices typically happen on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, depending on the coach. - Schedule release times can be found on WWW.NCSAASPORTS.COM
Is the sports fee only due if my child makes the team?
The RMA / admin fee is required for students joining elementary athletics and covers tryouts. It is not the program sports fee. The program sports fee is only after the student makes the team: $50 commitment / deposit first, remainder due by the first game.
Is Flag Football boys-only or co-ed?
- Flag Football is co-ed until middle school/high school. Starting in middle school, there will be separate divisions for girls and boys.
Why does the RMA website show "transfer pending" when I try to register my child for sports?
Please make sure when you are registering the sport, you are selecting your student's specific grade bracket: K-5 - ELEMENTARY - ex. Elementary Girls Soccer 3-5 6-8 - MIDDLE SCHOOL 9-12 - No label, just "Boys Basketball"
Can my student try out for multiple divisions of the same sport?
- Yes, your student is welcome to try out for multiple divisions of the same sport to increase their chances of making a team.
Will there be baseball for 5th graders?
Baseball is not offered for 4th or 5th graders at this school or other schools in the NCSAA league. Suggestions for adding a division can go to the league director at info@ncsaasports.com.
